I’ve been a resident of St Lawrence County since 1974 and a Canton resident since 1984. I worked as a job counselor/labor representative with NYS and County agencies for 36 years, while volunteering with community nonprofits on social, environmental and climate issues. I’ve been a long-time advocate for public transportation, safe streets and energy efficiency. After being appointed to the Canton Village Board of Trustees in 2016, I was elected in 2017 and again in 2018.
Much of the work I’m involved with in Village committees and on-going projects centers around infrastructure, energy efficiency/savings, and public safety. This includes work with Complete Streets - making Canton streets safer for biking and pedestrians, EV charger installation, Remington Trail improvement, and working towards a Community choice energy system that can provide Village residents with a renewable energy option at cost savings.
I am running for reelection so that I can continue my work on improving street safety such as safer crossings, bike paths, and improved sidewalks. I will focus on other important infrastructure projects such as ensuring a secondary secure water source for the Village and improving municipal energy savings and efficiency. I will also continue to work to improve Canton’s access to public transportation. I look forward to working with Village and Town partners to help make sure residents can thrive, can get around the Village safely, can enjoy the resources in Canton that we’re lucky to be surrounded with, and can affordably maintain their homes in our Village.
